making a difference...

In forty years of service to our community Hiatus House has undergone significant change. We have grown to be one of the largest facilities, providing the most comprehensive programming, in Canada. In addition to emergency shelter 24/7 we provide transitional housing support, family court support, specialized counselling services for children, counselling services throughout Essex County for both abused women and abusive men and school-based counselling for elementary school children who have witnessed abuse.

We cannot do this specialized work without the support of community partners such as Royal LePage Binder Realtors. The Annual Royal LePage Binder Golf Tournament has donated nearly $100,000 to Hiatus House since 2013. These dollars allowed us to apply for and receive funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Because of this, in 2017, we were able to complete Phase I of the new playground for children staying at our shelter. The continued success of the annual Royal LePage Binder tournament is a testament to the commitment of their staff, sponsors and players to Hiatus House and our clients.
